Scott Todnem

Teacher, Writer, Speaker, Father, National Health Teacher of the Year

Scott Todnem has been teaching since 2001 in Naperville, Illinois. He was named the 2019 SHAPE America National Health Education Teacher of the Year. He is also the author of “ Sex Education for Boys: A Parent’s Guide” with practical advice on puberty, sex, and relationships, and “Growing Up Great!” — a puberty book for boys. Scott is a nationally-recognized presenter who travels to speak about the benefits of great health education programs. He has led educational trips to state and nation’s capitals, and has worked as a team-building coordinator for students and staff. Scott has also served as part of inclusive committees for cultural and gender diversity and uses his platforms for mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Scott grew up in a few locations stateside and overseas, meeting new friends from various walks of life. He developed an eclectic list of interests and hobbies, falling in love with everything from sports to comic books, poetry to punk rock
