Dr. Kinette Richards, Ph.D., NCC

Dr. Kinette Richards, Ph.D., NCC, is the owner and operator of Creating Space Equity Consulting, LLC, a diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging LLC. She is an award-winning mental health professional and EDI practitioner, advocating for marginalized communities and equitable spaces. She has extensive experience in both the mental health and EDI space and is committed to working across differences to train and open dialogue on equity issues. She has worked with students and youth K-12, in school and clinical settings. Dr. Richards holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Colorado, Denver. She also holds a doctorate in school psychology from the University of Denver, where she is an adjunct professor teaching graduate courses in the College of Education. She earned a certificate in leading diversity, equity, and inclusion, from Northwestern University, and a certificate in leadership from U.C. Davis.

In addition to Creating Space Equity Consulting, LLC, Dr. Richards is a co-founder and vice chair of Social Justice Connect (SJConnect), a nonprofit organization which has developed a website for social justice events. She is a co-coordinator for Youth Celebrate Diversity, a nonprofit organization helping train high school students to carry the mantle of social justice and equity work in their schools. She was a member of the Georgetown Day School Equity Collaborative Faculty, in Washington, D.C., which for six years trained public and independent school personnel to address issues of equity and privilege in their school settings. She was a member of the American Psychological Association RESilience Work Group working on racial stress and parenting. Additionally, she served as a member of the advisory board for Teaching Tolerance — renamed to Learning For Justice, a national organization that develops training and curriculum for school personnel and other professionals interested in doing and leading equity work. Learning For Justice is a subsidiary of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
