Sarah Sparrow Benes, Ed.D., Ed.M., M.P.H.

Sarah Sparrow Benes, Ed.D., Ed.M., M.P.H., is an associate clinical professor in the School of Health Sciences at Merrimack College. She is also a partner in Lighthouse Wellness & Health Education Consulting. Dr. Benes received her Ed.D. in curriculum and teaching and her Ed.M. in human movement from Boston University. She went to Boston University from the University of Connecticut where she earned her B.S. in athletic training. She completed a master’s in public health from the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Benes is currently on the board of SHAPE America and has served as chair of the health education council of SHAPE America. She has done curriculum development with many districts in Massachusetts, conducted skills-based health education, professional development, and presentations in multiple states across the country and internationally. She is a co-author of four books and has more than a dozen health education articles and other publications.
